Happy Sunday and Welcome to my stop on the Micro Mod Sew Along!
I had the pleasure of meeting Alexia at Quilt Con and was thrilled to find out she would be teaching a class from her book Liberty Love at Drygoods Design here in Seattle. In her class we whipped up some Around town Tote bags and I got to see her All Zipped Up bag in class as well as the ever popular Marcelle Medallion Quilt. When Alexia invited me to be a part of this sew along I was thrilled.
Putting on my thinking cap I quickly resolved to making yet another (yes this is my third) All Zipped Up Bag from Liberty Love. I think that it's a perfect merge of this amazing husband/wife team. Alexia's pattern, Rob's fabric...a match made in Heaven? Well.....yes!
I just returned from a family road trip to California where I picked up some metallic vinyl. Not your typical quilting cotton mind you, a bit different, maybe even a bit odd (think your favorite diners seat cover). More than either of those two adjectives a bit delicious and retro especially paired with Rob's awesomely retro and funky line!
It all started with the triangles, I mixed the micro mod with what I believe I have identified as a green essex linen (not 100% sure on this) I added in some field study, a bit of Echino and the marvelous Melody Miller Telephone.

I added a front panel with a zipped pocket because I love a front zipper on a purse.
This is the bag almost done just waiting for a handle and some hardware. I lined the purse with what might be my favorite from the Micro mod line: Tick Tock in white!
And Voila!
The All Zipped Up bag all done! All metallic, all funky all Micro Mod fun!
All Zipped Up is right and ready to go!!!

If you would love this bag I would love to give it to you.

Love love love your bag. So wonderful Piercing and colors, cool...
ReplyDeleteHaha, of course I meant your piecing and Not your Piercings ;-)
DeleteI love the whimsy of this bag! Such great color and combination of materials. Was the vinyl difficult to work with?
ReplyDeleteNO!!! It was really a breeze to sew through! WAY easier than leather!!
DeleteI drooled over this bag as I watched you make it over on instagram, it is a serious beauty! I have been looking for a new purse to make myself, you could just send this one to me and save me some time ;) Gorgeous work all around!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh...what joyful funky modern nostalgic fun! It just makes me smile! I'm old enough to remember when telephones looked like that. I absolutely love the phone fabric and the colors and the movement in this design, Thanks for the generous giveaway opportunity and for your beautiful blog. Your quilting is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love how you combined Micro Mod with green solid - this is perfect match!
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with this bag-such a great combination of color! You are incredibly generous for parting with this masterpiece...thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteThe bag is amazing! I love it when people like you can just whip things like this up! Great colors, fun bag. Would love to have it to travel with and use for all the electronics, cords, jewelry and other valuables you want with you! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHow kind of you to give this away! I too have been following its progress on instagram and may have drooled on my screen a little. So many reasons I would love to own this bag, so that I could look at its awesomeness every day, because I would never be able to make anything like it myself and just because I think it might make me feel a bit awesome to use it.
ReplyDeleteYour bag is just wonderful...looks like an expensive designer bag. Obviously, this is an extremely kind thing for you to do...to give away something made with love.
ReplyDeleteThis is a stunning bag! I can't begin to imagine the fun of carrying it. I'd love to have it and brag about you! You are so generous!

This is an absolutely gorgeous bag. So impressive!
ReplyDeleteI am dying that you are giving this bag away. I have shamelessly been stalking it's progress along with your white one and the red leather one. I would LOVE to be this little darling's new owner!
ReplyDeleteWell, I would love to win this bag because YOU made it! Plus its so frickin' cool, just you. I've been doing so much kind stuff for the circus school it all may turn around and get ugly, I tell you. 12 hours/week sewing lycra unitards is really killing my creative mojo! I will do myself a kindness right now, though. I'm finally going to applique my hexie peace sign onto the back of my new jacket. I've had that think pieced for over a week but haven't take the time to sew it on. Thanks for the reminder, and for giving away this ultimate bag!!
ReplyDeleteVERY cute bag! Would love to win it! Thanks for the chance. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this bag, but I spose relatives are not eligible :( I was very good to myself all weekend...stayed home and took care of my cold, and I just finished doing a huge project for my homeowners' association. AND, I would LOVE this bag.....and that's the truth!
ReplyDeleteIt that is one fantastic bag! My current bag is on it's last legs, so it would be amazing to win this :o)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great bag!
ReplyDeleteKrista, you crazy bag lady you, you're giving away this awesome bag? I'd love to win it because then I'd have something lovely and amazing made by you and I could tell everyone who complimented me on the bag all about my talented friend Krista!
ReplyDeletei would love to win. thanks
ReplyDeleteI will love this bag ever so much! Every time I use it I will remember a certain Flickr quilt swap with a fabulously talented young man and is crazy bag making Mom, who fosters his creative ability. xo lollydo
ReplyDeleteGive this away? I would use this as a pillow! I wouldn't carry it like a normal person. It would live on my shoulder like an early 90s ghetto blaster, all cuddled up to my face!...
ReplyDelete...
.....too far?
Stunning purse! I loved watching the construction on Instagram!

What an awesome bag, how can you stand to give it away, so very nice of you. The metallic is so cool and I love the green handle, oh and the typewriter, and the zippers, so many wonderful things...
ReplyDeleteOMG, that bag is GORGEOUS! I love bags, but never thought that I could make one that I would want to carry. This is such an inspiration. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat an unbelievable giveaway. I love everything about this bag, the colour the prints and the hardware. Thank you so much for a great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI never ever enter these give aways. But the your bag is just too cool not to take a chance! You do beautiful work! I followed along on Instagram as you were making it and thought that is such a fabulous bag! I could make that bag! Yah right! Now maybe I could win that bag! Great give away! Love the MicroMod fabric as well! I need some of that as well I think!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet! I took a nap today (something nice for myself) and I made a pie (something nice for the hubby and daughter). Thank you so much for the giveaway! :) The bag is FANTASTIC!!!!
ReplyDeleteI too took a nap, made dinner & cleaned the house (nice for others too) and I am in love with this bag. Seriously. the vinyl is perfect. I have ran my other purse into the ground (the zipper wont stay shut) so this would be a very welcome change!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm in love with this bag! The phone is so whimiscal and adds so much fun to the bag. I love the colors, viny and zippers - it all adds up to one fun bag:) I did my PT for my ankle and took my hubby out to dinner tonight. I would so love to win this bag
ReplyDeleteThe bag is fabulously chic. As a busy mom of three, I recently realized I was in a rut, and constantly in my "momiform" of jeans, flats, and a t-shirt or sweater. I've been actively trying to return to my formerly somewhat hip self, and dressing cuter. This bag would be the icing on the cake! So, my fingers are crossed, and thanks for offering such a fab giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThis bag is stunning! I can't believe your going to part with it. Why would I like to have it? Well besides the obvious, that it's gorgeous my current bag/purse is thread bare and falling apart. I keep telling myself I'm going to sew one instead of buy one. Thus far it hasn't happened. Thank you so much for this give away!
ReplyDeleteWhy would I love this bag? What's not to love? The design, colors, fabrics, hardware, zippers, this bag has it all, and I love all of it. I would love to win this bag, thank you for the chance.
ReplyDeleteThat bag is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great bag - green fabric, paired up with some purple - aaaah!
ReplyDeletebeen watching this come along via IG. Looks great! I love that fabric!
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome bag Krista!! Hmmmmm....let me see, something kind for myself would be going to bed now that it is 2:28 and I have to get up and stitch all day tomorrow and something kind for someone else is remembering to take my box of embellishment ribbons to share with my table mates at class tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteDid I say how awesome your bag is? Well it is. Awesome!
Wow, that bag is amazing and I would love to have something so unique to carry. I'll bet it would get lots of compliments and start lots of conversations when I'm out and about! For me, sewing is the kind thing I do for myself AND for others -- the sewing time is a joy for me and then giving away things I make is (I hope) joy for me and for the recipient. Just last week I sent quilts to two of my aunts, just because. Getting something in the mail that's not junk or a bill is something everyone likes, right?
ReplyDeleteYou are so kind to give this away. Of course I love it! I am going to do some sewing tonight (being kind to myself) and tomorrow I am hosting a morning tea for the mum's in my sons class.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is Wow! I love your bag and Tick Tock white is my favorite from the collection too. I've made 2 bags, but they were not even close to yours in complexity. I really like the vinyl you used and the front pocket. Thank you for the chance to own your lovely bag.
ReplyDeleteAmazing job on this bag! I adore it!! I would love it because it combines my two favorite colors blue and green, and one of my favorite designer's prints!
ReplyDeleteAs for the something kind - I am blowing off the housework this am to work on a quilt for my niece who is graduating from high school! I am very excited to sew - it's been a while! It's a treat for me, and will be a big surprise for her!
Every time I sew/quilt I'm doing something kind for myself. LOL I try to do lots of kind things for others. I would love that bag for so many reasons: colors, fabric styles, bag style, and most of all I didn't have to make it. LOL
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me? Really? You are giving this bag away? Wowser lady...that is so freaking generous of you!
ReplyDeleteOk....why I would love to win this bag....

The vinyl really makes this bag unique. Great inspiration for all of us.
ReplyDeleteIF we love this bag? It's amazing and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have and use it! Plus, you could just give it to me at the next SMQG meeting instead of shipping it. Thanks for the giveaway :)

ReplyDeleteI love it!
This makes a fantastic diaper bag! I would love to have it!
ReplyDeleteKrista, this bag is just awesome. i envy your talents...i would love to win this bag so that i can officially retire my hideous Vera Bradley backsack...
ReplyDeleteA few weeks ago I snagged my favorite bag on a door handle...since then I've been rocking a canvas grocery tote. This is the first bag I've seen that would be a worthy follow up to my trusty purse.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of winning this bag, you've inspired me to try sewing with leather!
This bag is absolutely awesome! I would love to have this bag. I would actually probably use it as a 'diaper' bag but only for the few necessities of having a 2 year old - her birthday was yesterday...the day of the post. Maybe it's meant to be? This bag would make me such a stylish mom! Fabulous!

ReplyDeleteI love this bag and I would so love to have it. I would bring it along with me to work, and hopefully it would distract the other guys with its wonderful design and metallic vinyl and all that wonderful hardware.
